There's no place like home

After two weeks of fun in the mitten, we have arrived home again to Colorado. This trip was especially "fun" since it was Joey's first plane ride. It was really an experience for everyone, including the two gentlemen who sat in front of us, lol. We were hoping for the little man to enjoy the ride as much as his cousin Mara did when she was six months old. Unfortunately, that was not the case. He squirmed, cried and cried some more when his ears would pop. Poor little guy. Mommy sang the itsy-bitsy spider more times than should be allowed. Daddy sang Old MacDonald until we ran out of farm animals and started using fish, frogs and dolphins. This was the first trip that we were the last people off the plane and the first to board...makes for a long day.

Joey had such a great time meeting all the extended family for the first time. He was passed around, hugged and cooed over most of the time. We watched him grow up tremendously during these two short weeks. He has learned to blow bubbles with his tongue, and laugh a deep loud belly laugh whenever someone smiles at him. He is such a sweet, loving baby. We are so blessed.

Granny B  and Judgie (Polish for grandpa) got to spend a week with us upon our arrival. We had a lot of fun meeting all of the Lawson's and some of the Wheelers at Great Grandma Lawson's memorial service.  Gary was chosen to read a eulogy, and he amazed me once again with how thoughtful and memorable his words can be. I really am a lucky girl. We went to the park and had a picnic, watched Granny play sand volleyball with her girl friends, and enjoyed dinner at Nana's house. Mommy and daddy even got to enjoy an evening on the deck in the hot tub with a bottle of vino :).

We then made our way out to Maple Rowe Farm to visit with Grandma and Grandpa. We were greeted with most of the Masta family. Joey was excited to play with his cousins, Brandi and Josh. They were just as thrilled. It was very neat to watch him interact with my dad while he played the guitar. Note to self: Must learn to play guitar in spare time....lol. We got to bring lunch to great grandpa Masta in the nursing home and spend some time with him. Joey loved hearing the stories of my grandpas fire-fighting days as Chief in Detroit. We even got to record a few of them.

There was so much to see and do. It was a great trip. Now I just need to figure out how to keep Joey occupied at home...I fear he will be board easily now. lol.
